Central Florida Film and Video Festival
In the world of cinema, it is rather difficult to find the warmth, sincerity,
and honesty for the short independent film in an environment tightly dominated
by the economic demands of the larger feature film. The greatest directors have
made short independent films in their time. Today, the younger generation is
following the same path.
Short independent production offers the opportunity of making film and video
more freely. It allows people to share and gain experience in the magical art
of cinema. It offers young directors the opportunity to experiment and
communicate their artistic vision to you, the viewer. Basically, the short
film is cinema condensed. Its audience is different and interested in even
the smallest details which creates a wealth of different ways of looking at
The Central Florida Film and Video Festival's sole purpose has been to recognize
these independent film/videomakers by showing their work to the public.
Last year we received 422 entries from throughout the United States and
seventeen foreign countries, again confirming our festival's importance as a
showcase for independent cinema. The films you will experience demonstrate a
wide variety of film styles and ideas, ranging from animated comedies to
live-action dramas, to social and political documentaries, to off-the-wall
experimentals. But despite all their differences, they share one common goal:
their independence. In supporting this Festival, you support that independence
and we hope that you will continue to do so in the future.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Festival Sponsors and
Staff as well as all the volunteers and artists for their countless hours of
hard work. It's their dedication and persistence that makes this event possible.
